if you don't know EXACTLY what you are doing, that is exactly what you will do. break it.
a centrifugal brake is reached from the side opposite the handle. there is usually a prescribed way to lift the side plate without taking everything apart. there are different ways of access by different mfgrs.
a magnetic braking system is generally factory sealed with no tyro access. just a wheel to turn for adjustment.
the paperwork that came with the reel usually has good instructions.
